Before boring you with my short but sweet reviews, here is the gorgeous synopsis about the first book in the series.
The Rise of Aredor
Lost in a foreign land and separated from his family, Corin does his best to survive as a slave in the household of a Calorin lord. With newfound friends he fights for survival in ambushes and wars. For one act of bravery, he is awarded his freedom and returns to a home that has been invaded and ravaged by the Calorin armies. When Corin sets foot on Aredor's shores, he has one goal in mind: find his family. He is driven into the forest, where he is reunited with childhood friends. From the shelter of the woods, they begin a spirited rebellion against Corin's former cruel master, who now holds sway over Aredor. Follow Corin's path in his quest to free his imprisoned brother, find a father who has vanished, and ultimately free his country in The Rise of Aredor.

The Rise of Aredor is a hugely ambitious tale that spans the years and leaves you with the hunger to learn more about a tough stolen prince.
The amount of world-building is perfectly balanced with humour and bucket loads of action. The research is phenomenal, and there is no doubt the author could organise and assemble a fearsome pack of wise-cracking warriors to lay siege to a castle if need be.
The first half was intriguing, but it wasn’t until the second part I connected with the characters, felt their struggles and grew to love them.
This is an epic read regarding scale and size with a heavy emphasis on training, fighting and battle scenes which, as an action and weapons junkie suited me perfectly.
The research is first-rate, the camaraderie between the main characters hilarious at times, and the ending is fraught with enough danger to keep you holding your breath.
I received this copy in exchange for an honest review; this review reflects my personal opinion that this is an epic book of manly awesomeness.
And the synopsis for the fabulous sequel!
The Wildcat of Braeton
His term of service to Lord Rishdah now complete, Aiden returns to his home in Braeton. As he travels he hears rumors that trouble plagues Braeton. Clan Canich is being attacked from within. He arrives, determined to save his father, his brothers, and his Clan from the treachery of one man.
A year has passed since the Calorins were driven from Aredor and Corin is struggling to rebuild his country. Despite the peace, a fear haunts him that the Calorins aren’t far away. The Hawk Flight takes to the forest again to defend the borders against a possible attack from the neighboring country of Durna and its Calorin ally.
As Aiden and Corin struggle to adapt to their new lives they know one thing for certain - war is coming to the North!

And my review.....
With the first book in the series tucked under my belt, I dove into this sequel expecting a huge amount of fighting, battle scenes and more masculinity that you can shake a fist at.
What I got was more warrior women, *cheers* romance, *cheers again* more depth, tighter writing, and layers to the characters we’d come to love in Rise of Aredor.
Aiden grew to be my favourite lad, his charm and grit, most definitely swoon-worthy. His playful banter with a certain female warrior, sweet, endearing and funny.
The battle scenes were filled with extraordinary feats, powerful warriors, epic struggles and ruthless underhanded villains. Brilliant!
This book will steal your heart, squeeze, then crush it, leaving you a pile of fangirly blubbery mess.
Prepare yourself to come away shaking your fist, sobbing, laughing, and with a deep desire for more of Claire’s writing.
If you are like me, you’ll probably want to re-watch Braveheart in tribute to the Braeton clans.
I received this copy in exchange for an honest review, this review reflects my personal opinion that this sequel is worthy of fangirling and extreme author related irritation.
